Why is there so much confusion about whether the Dvorak keyboard is more ergonomic?

The Dvorak keyboard was developed by the US Navy to be a more ergonomical electronic keyboard than the traditional Qwerty, which was developed for the old-fashioned, manual typewriter. So why is there now so much confusion and mixed messages as to whether Dvorak has achieved its important aim?

Simply becauese people were trained on QWERTY, and the can type pretty fast with it.

I need an ergonomic keyboard with the number pad on the left.?

Does anyone know where I can get one of these?

You’ll have to get a numberpad, by itself. It would connect to the computer through a USB port. Or like this wireless one.

How much would you pay for a cool ergonomic keyboard?

Does anyone know of a portable ergonomic keyboard?

Looking for something that I can use in hotels, as I’m guessing that it would be difficult to use another keyboard on planes or trains. Would like something that I can throw in a bag and then unfold (?) so that my RSI doesn’t get worse.

I’ve never seen anything that I would consider both portable AND ergonomic.

My best suggestion would be a TypeMatrix. They are small. The keys aren’t in a that weird slanted fashion that is responsible for most RSIs. They come in Dvorak if that’s your thing. And, they’re relatively inexpensive.

You can usually save a few bucks by checking around eBay.

or Froogle

How to clean my black ergonomic keyboard keys?

All the keys are building up on the sides with dust and junk, was seeing what some ideas were.

Pretty simple. All you need is a clean cloth and clean water. You don’t need any ‘fancy’ cleaning solutions. Wet the cloth, wring it out so it’s just damp and wipe the keyboard. If you can’t get between the keys with your fingers, try using a slightly damp cotton bud.

Probably a lot easier to go out and buy a new keyboard, they are pretty inexpensive.
